The girl with April in her eyes

 There once was a King, who called for the spring

 옛날 옛날에 봄이 오기를 바라던 왕이 있었어요

 For his world was still covered in snow

 그의 나라는 여전히 눈으로 덮여 있었기 때문이었어요

 But the spring had not been,

 하지만 봄은 오지 않았어요

 for he was wicked and mean

 그 왕이 사악하고 야비했기 때문이지요

 In his winter-fields nothing would grow

 그 나라의 겨울 들판엔 아무것도 자라나지 않았어요

 And when a traveller called, seeking help at the door

 그리고 어느 날 한 방랑자가 문을 두드리며 도움을 청했지요

 Only food and a bed for the night

 단지 약간의 음식과 하룻밤 머물기만을 구했어요

 He ordered his slave to turn her away

 그 왕은 하인을 시켜 그녀를 쫓아내 버렸어요

 The girl with April in her eyes

 4월의 눈동자를 지닌 소녀를 말이에요

 Oh, oh, on and on she goes

 오~ 그녀는 끝없이 헤매었어요

 Through the winter’s night, the wild wind and the snow

 겨울밤 내내 모진 바람과 눈보라 속에서

 Hi, hi, on and on she rides

 아~ 그녀는 말을 타고 내내 달렸어요

 Someone help the girl with April in her eyes

 누군가 4월의 눈동자를 지닌 그 소녀를 도와주면 좋으련만

 She rode through the night, till she came to the light

 그녀는 밤새 말을 타고 달리다 가까스로 불빛을 발견했어요

 Of a humble man's home in the woods

 숲속에 사는 가난한 농부의 집 불빛을

 He brought her inside,

 그는 그녀를 집안으로 데려왔어요

 by the firelight she died

 그러나 그녀는 난로 곁에서 숨을 거두었어요

 And he buried her gently and good

 그리고 그는 그녀를 정성을 다해 묻어 주었어요

 Oh the morning was bright, all the world was snow white

 다음날 아침이 밝았지만, 세상은 여전히 흰 눈으로 덮여있었어요

 But when he came to the place where she lay,

 하지만 그가 그녀의 묻힌 곳에 가보니

 His field was ablaze, with flowers on the grave

 무덤가에 핀 꽃들로 울긋불긋 뒤덮여 있었어요

 Of the girl with April in her eyes

 4월의 눈동자를 지닌 소녀의 무덤 위에 말이죠

 오~ 그녀는 끝없이 헤매었어요

 그녀는 이제 세상을 떠나고 없어요. 4월의 눈동자를 지닌 소녀 말이에요
